Global Fuelbox is an energy technology start-up company based in California. The firm tasked Nectar with developing a new fuel additive and delivery device for improving the miles-per-gallon (MPG) ratio of diesel engines, the primary power source for today’s trucking and transport industry.
Nectar developed a comprehensive product requirements document for the new fuel additive device; conducted chemical and combustion engine research and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA); and collaborated with external topic experts to design and engineer the required mechanical and electromechanical systems, and associated hardware and firmware. In addition to designing tests to meet MIL-STD 810, MIL-STD 461, and OSHA requirements, Nectar performed other tests recommended by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
Military Standard for how to test equipment for electromagnetic compatibility; and additional U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements. For example, the system had to qualify for MIL-STD 810, the U.S. Military Standard that requires tailoring equipment’s environmental design and
test limits to the conditions that it will experience throughout its service life, and establishing chamber test methods that replicate the effects of environments on the equipment rather than imitating the environments themselves; MIL-STD 461, the U.S.
