CribMaster ProStock

CribMaster is a comprehensive inventory management system designed to streamline and optimize the management of tools, equipment, and supplies within industrial settings.

Background and Challenges

The acquisition prompted CribMaster to seek assistance in electro-mechanical redesigning of the Nexiant Point of Use Secure Drawer to address reliability issues and reduce costs. Phase 1.0 involved a comprehensive review of the existing product system, including CAD data, schematics, reliability, and failure data. 

Critical issues identified during discussions with Nexiant, such as door malfunction, inconsistent latching, and loose pivot assemblies, were prioritized for resolution. The redesign aimed to maintain platform compatibility, refine subassemblies, and implement cost-effective manufacturing and assembly approaches.

Major Cost Reduction and Reliability Improvement

Nectar focused on achieving significant cost reduction and reliability enhancement through the redesign process, addressing critical issues identified in collaboration with Nexiant and CribMaster.

Mechanical Design

Nectar provided expertise in mechanical design, refining subassemblies and ensuring compatibility with existing frames.

Electronics Design

Nectar contributed to electronics design improvements, particularly focusing on enhancing reliability and addressing failure issues identified during the Failure Analysis conducted for Nexiant.

Design for Manufacture

Nectar optimized the design for manufacturing, considering assembly simplification, tooling approaches for part cost reduction, and increased reliability.

Jonathan at his core is a Human Factors Engineer with his M.S. in Human Factors and Minor in Sociology from California State University of Long Beach. At Nectar, Jonathan is responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s ISO 13485 Quality Management System keeping in compliance with US and international regulations for product development. Jonathan’s role ensures each department is in compliance every step of the design process, making him a critical Nectar team member.
